CAMPS AND PARKS

 

Several Odd Fellow Jurisdictions have recreation parks, camp grounds and youth camps available for Odd Fellows, Rebekahs, and their families. Some make their facilities available to the general public, but they often have reduced rates for members of the Order. Following is a thumbnail sketch on some of these facilities.


Alabama

ODD FELLOW RECREATIONAL PARK. 253 County Rd., Clanton, AL 35045, Phone 205-755-6114.

Location 7-1/2 miles East of I-65, exit from I-65 at exit 212, Clanton, AL, go east on Highway 145, take first right, one mile and turn left for one mile then right on County Rd. 253 for five miles to camp. Facilities: Three cabins (15 people per cabin), 100 person auditorium, 50 person dining hall, eight R/V hook-ups (dump), with eight additional parking, community baths and showers, A/C & Heat pavilion with rest rooms, sleeping quarters, dining kitchen, outside BBQ, capacity for 200 persons. Recreation: Boating, Fishing, Lake swimming.

Open: Year round. No reservations required. Special events, Annual fish fry first Saturday in October. Visitors welcome with members.

Rate: Is $4.00 per night.


Arizona

ODD FELLOW/REBEKAH CAMP INC. Show Low, AZ.

12.6 acre park for youth and adults. Located 16 miles west of Show Low, AZ on Highway 260 halfway between mileposts 325/326. Elevation 6500 feet. Manager: Bud Peebles 2148 S. Facilities: 28 campsites with cement slabs. Modern rest rooms with hot and cold water, flush toilets and showers. Porta Jons for use in distant areas. Clubroom for activities. Washer and dryer. Ramada for group meals and other uses. Horseshoe pit. Dump station. Recreation: Fishing, Hiking. ATVs Welcome.

Open: May 1 – Sept. 30. Visitors welcome with members of the order.

Rate: Suggested minimum donation for full hookup $8.00/ day or $165.00/ month; Water and Electric $5.00/ day or $100.00/ month. Exclusive use of 24" X 40" Ramada $25.00 daily. Reservations recommended.


California

THREE LINKS CAMP, 21950 Highway 108, Miwuk Village, CA 95346, Phone. 209-586-5500.

Location: East Central California, about 18.5 miles east of Sonora on Highway 108; right turn, then immediate left on Three Links Road, then ½ mile on the gravel road. Watch for the sign on Hwy 108 – its right at the turn off. The Camp is about 4,500 feet elevation on 25 acres in the Stanislaus National Forest.

Facilities: About 20 tent campsites, and 40 RV sites with full hook-ups. Five Dormitories sleep a total of about 108; four Dorms with inside bathroom/shower; fifth Dorm has bathroom, no shower. Showers are also in the Main, Lower and RV Restrooms; coin-operated Laundry Room. For extra fees, the Multi-purpose building with full kitchen serves as dining room and recreation room that handles groups of about 150 or so; the beautiful “Chapel in the Pines” seats about 150 people and is great for mountain weddings or church services! Seasonal swimming pool on site, with lakes and snow skiing nearby.

Open: Year round to members and the public. Great place for individuals and groups to enjoy the beautiful Sierra forest (family reunions, church & community groups, etc.)! Free Camp Festival held annually every 4th Saturday in June with Food, Games & Crafts Booths; BBQ Dinner (for a fee). Summer Youth Camp (ages 7-14) first three weeks of July. Visitors welcome.

ODD FELLOWS SIERRA PARK, located on Highway 108, 17 miles above Sonora, is an attractive subdivision situated on nearly 400 acres of land in Tuolumne County. There are 363 lots in the Park, and most of them have homes or vacation cabins on them. Situated in the center of the Park is a meadow with a man-made lake as the focal point of activities for the many full and part time residents of the Park. A barbecue and picnic area is used extensively. A popular gather place is the lodge and offices, located in the meadow and also the home for Sierra Park Odd Fellows Lodge No. 376. A network of improved paved roads stretches throughout the park with names of streets taken from the Odd Fellow and Rebekah Degrees, like Jordan Way, Rebekah Street, David Street, etc. A fulltime caretaker is employed to manage and maintain the water system, all equipment, roads, snow plowing, patrolling the Park, and miscellaneous duties. ODD FELLOWS RUSSIAN RIVER PARK, located two miles east of Guerneville on the south side of the Russian River in Sonoma County.  There are 1,100 cabin sites including rental units and 35 family camping spaces. Every renter must be sponsored by a member of the park. The 317 acres has road and street names with a connection to Odd Fellowship like Wildey, Colfax, Saratoga, etc. While many of the cabins and homes are located on the slopes and hills in the park, the flat land is utilized for the recreation area, camp grounds, rental units, store, teen club, clubhouse, outdoor theater, picnic area, playgrounds and barbecue area. The beach area, 350 feet frontage, is the finest to be found on the Russian River. The park manager and a guard and patrol service insures the privacy of the park. REDDING ODD FELLOWS CAMP, is located directly across from the Lewiston turn-off on State Hwy 299W. The arches across the driveway read I.O.O.F. CAMP, there is a locked gate (please call ahead if you would like to visit). The camp is located on approx 480 acres in Trinity County; it has two full time running creeks flowing through the property. The property is owned and operated by members of Redding Lodge #271 (530) 243-2041. The camp came into existence after World War II. Originally it was merely a camp grounds where members of IOOF could come to picnic or camp for a few days. It was decided by Redding Lodge #271 to allow members of IOOF to purchase 50 year permits to build year round or summer residences. There are currently 72 sites. Two remain as RV sites for guests. Tent or RV camping is allowed. There is a clubhouse with facilities for parties and potlucks. Additional information may be obtained by contacting Redding Lodge #271, P.O. Colorado

GRAND ENCAMPMENT CAMPGROUND, IOOF of Colorado. Indian Wells Rd.


Directions to camp: Take U.S. Highway 50 west of Canon City 10 miles - left on Copper Gulch Road 12.6 miles to Indian Wells Road, right 1/2 mile to gate.

A 97 acre camp, for both youth and adults.

Facilities: A 30' X 60' shelter house, with kitchen facilities, 15 R/V spaces with electric hook up (no sewage dump), unlimited tent space, lights and water in building, well with water storage tank.


Recreation: Hiking, fishing is10 miles south on Arkansas River, DeWeese Lake is not far away, games/sport equipment, bird watching, wildlife. A camp for all ages and special functions. (Youth must have adult supervision)

Iowa

Facilities: 150 person auditorium, 200 person dining hall, one cabin for six people, 12 R/V hook ups, 60 parking spaces and a canteen. Recreation: Boating, fishing, hiking, swimming (lake).

Kentucky

ODD FELLOWS YOUTH CAMP. Dewey Lake. Location: From junction Highway 80, 23 and 3 at Prestonsburg, KY, take Highway 3 to Jenny Wiley State Park, turn right at Park Lodge (May Lodge), camp is 3-1/2 miles from park lodge. Facilities: Three cabins, Cabin #3 will sleep 25-30 people, has a wood burning stove for cool weather; Cabin #4 will sleep 14-16 people, has a fireplace for cool weather; Cabin #5 will sleep 4-6 people, has electric heat for cool weather. The cabins are furnished with bunk beds, mattresses, stoves, refrigerators and bathroom facilities. Cooking utensils are available but limited. Grills are available for outside cooking. Also a cellular telephone is available at the caretaker's cabin for emergency calls only. A camping area for tents and a 50' X 30' picnic shelter is available. Recreation: Swimming (lake), fishing, hiking, exploring and a scenic boat ride along Dewey Lake, sports, and games. Open: Year round. Visitors are welcome.

IOOF NOLIN LAKE YOUTH CAMP. Bee Springs, KY. Located off highway 259 between Litchfield, KY and Brownsville, KY. A 22 acre camp on Nolin Lake. Approximately 400 feet of lake front. Reservations: Arthur Light 359 Fife Lane, Cecilia, Ky. 42724 Phone 270-862-4172.

Facilities:A large pavilion with wood fireplace, seats 120 people. Complete kitchen. Men's and women's bath rooms and showers. With city water. Three R/V hookups.
Two Cabins with Heat and Air, 15 bunks in each cabin, 1/2 bath in each cabin,also clothes lockers. Recreation: Fishing, hiking, swimming (lake), motor boating, nature trails, boat dock for fishing, tent camping. Open: Call (270-862-4172) for reservations. Open Year Round.

Rates: Free to all chaperoned youth groups.


Maine

Facilities: 120 capacity dining hall, arts/craft building, nurses cabin, recreation hall, 12 cabins 10 people per cabin. Recreation: Supervised activities such as sports, games, fishing, hiking, swimming (lake), kayaking and arts & craft. Open: 4-5 weeks for youths ages 8-15, visitors welcome. Michigan

TALL OAKS ODD FELLOW & REBEKAH YOUTH CAMP, 7153 S. Rebecca Rd, Baldwin, Michigan 49304. 27 Acre park with 5,280 feet of water front for youth and adults. Approximately 17.5 partially wooded acres with approximately 3/4 of a mile of shoreline on beautiful Big Star Lake, in Lake County.

Facilities:  Kitchen/Dining hall that seats 260, 11 cabins that can accomodate 11 people per cabin, 40 R/V sites, Chapel with a beautiful stained glass window, health center, community bath/shower house.

Youth camping includes 6 one week residential, co-ed camping sessions, that are age specific.  Children age 7- 15 may attend during their specific age session.  Offering archery, riflery, swimming (lake),  hiking, arts & crafts, games, aqua jump and sports.

Minnesota

The Minnesota Odd Fellow Youth Camp, Inc is known as "Camp Fa-Ho-Cha", the acronym of Faith, Hope, and Charity from the Encampment degrees. The camp is located on a 25 acre island on German Lake which is about 20 miles NE of Mankato, MN

The camp is controlled by a board of directors, 6 Odd Fellows and 3 Rebekahs elected at the annual meeting during the Grand Lodge/Rebekah sessions. Work days and board meetings are the last Sunday of the month April through October. Camping is for 10 – 12 year old children sponsored by the lodges during the 3rd and 4th weeks of July. Extra weeks are available as needed. Other groups such as group homes, schools, confirmation retreats, family vacations, etc. fill the remaining rental dates throughout the summer.

Facilities: The camp has 8 - A - frame cabins which sleeps 5 campers each. The 14' x 14' cabins are insulated and equipped with a ventilation fan, floor fans, and fluorescent lighting. They also are equipped with a folding card table and chairs along with carpeted floor. Fire extinguishers and smoke alarms provide extra safety precautions. The most recent undertaking was the two-story counselor cabin. It has 3 rooms for the counselor and staff. The upstairs is used by the maintenance person and board members. There are modern men/women bath rooms with showers. The 36' x 68' recreation hall also serves as the kitchen area. The parking lot has approximately 20 parking spaces and is a secured area. R/Vs can use limited electric or there is a nearby campground within half mile. Parking lot is located on County 13 across from public access on Lake Jefferson. Two new pontoons purchased in 2006 transport campers comfortably and safely to the island (about one mile).

Recreation: Water front activities include: swim area, canoeing, paddle boats, fishing, and sheriffs patrol instruction on water safety. Recreation hall activities include: pool table, basketball shoot, air hockey, bumper pool, ping pong, crafting area and supplies. Be a part of Nature recognition: identify trees, collect frogs, or build an insect catcher, There are two hiking trails to explore. Play favorite outdoor games: Horseshoes, volleyball, capture the flag, Night tag, scavenger hunt, lawn games. The goal is to have Campers learn to interact with other campers and HAVE FUN!

Open: April through September
Rate: $150 per week for youth sponsored by a lodge. Group rates vary upon number of consumers and amount of usage of facilities. Check with secretary.


New Hampshire

New Mexico

INDEPENDENT ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS AND REBEKAHS CAMPGROUND. Also used as Youth Campground. Torreon & Manzano. Located approximately three miles south of Torreon, New Mexico on State Road 337 and then west approximately two miles to campground, 40 acre campground with gravel roads. pine trees, and some shaded parking for trailers and R/V's for youth and adults.

Facilities: A partially enclosed building with tables and fireplace for approximately 100 people. About 20 R/V spaces with electric and water, baseball diamond, basketball court, some small buildings for dry camping. Limited access for handicapped.

Recreation: Hiking, camping, nature walks (close to National Forest), games/sports equipment. Special function for all ages. Annual picnic last weekend in July. Open: Year round for dry camping. Electric and water on May through October. Special functions including annual picnic & youth camp-o-ree. Visitors welcome with members of the Order. Contact manager for reservations.

Rate: No set rate, donations gladly accepted.


Ohio

Facilities: Two shelter houses with the larger seating about 75. 28 full RV hookups, with over flow parking, rest rooms for men and women with showers.

Oregon

JESSE T. JONES ODD FELLOW PARK. Florence, Oregon. A 50 acre park for families. Manager: Mary Green, Asst Managers: Don and DeAnn Gimbel.

Facilities: Accommodations Available include 98 Full R.V. Hookups, Water, Electricity, WIFI and Sewer (30 and 50 amp electrical hookups).  5 Tent spaces are also available with no hookups on site. Other facilities include a large pavilion with kitchen with a commercial refrigerator, a BBQ and ( grills that may be used with a refundable deposit); Multipurpose Meeting Room connected to pavilion; 2 restrooms with showers, one in upper level, and one in the lower level.  Horseshoe pitching area; outdoor basketball court;  2 playgrounds: Bicycle track:2 ATV Wash stations and direct access to the dunes from Jones Park for ATV's and dune buggies. 2mi to the beach, fishing and crabbing just minutes away.

Rate for Odd Fellows and Rebekahs is $30.00 per night, and the rate for guests of members is $40.00 per night (member making the invitation must be present). Park quiet hours are from 10 p.m. to 7a.m., including RV generators and ATV's.  Dogs are welcome but must be kept on leash.  All buildings are handicap accessible, clean and welcoming.  Travelers finding their way to the Jessie T. Jones Park will really enjoy their visit.
Open: Year round. Special functions include weekend camp-outs. Cookouts hosted by Grand Lodge officers, Encampment officers and Department Council officers on July 4th and Labor Day. Visitors are welcome with members of the Order. Contact the manager for reservations.

Only 1 camping vehicle allowed per site. Extra Vehicles with box trailers that are hooked up to electric and slept in are considered a camping vehicle and need their own site.

Washington

FACILITIES:  A two level auditorium with each level having a 20' X 30' meeting room, Large kitchen on lower level and small kitchenette on upper level.  Each floor has a 40' X 50' meeting and rest rooms.  The lower level restrooms have showers and we now have individual fire pits at each campsite. Rustic outdoor covered kitchen with BBQ pit, picnic tables, tent spaces, 16 R/V hook-ups (water & electricity only) and 50 additional parking spaces.  Dump station 5 miles south at state park.  OPEN: Year around.  Scheduled activities held:  Pork Chop BBQ on 2nd Sunday in July at noon.  RATE:  R/V hook-ups -- Non-members $25.00 per day; Members $20.00 per day; Tenters $15.00 per day   Contact office for prices regarding groups.  Great for large groups such as R/V Clubs, Square Dancing groups, meetings, wedding receptions, family reunions and day picnics.


Wisconsin

Facilities: A kitchen and dining hall large enough to serve 200 people. Six modern cabins with beds for 18 in each. Staff quarters to accommodate 30 people. A large game room for indoor activities. Chapel for spiritual guidance and worship. Administration building. 16 R/V hook-ups. Recreation: Crafts, offer opportunity to turn disposable containers into useful articles. Nature study groups find many plants and animals inhabiting the campgrounds and nature trail. Under-privileged and handicapped children spend a week having fun in the great outdoors. During the four (4) weeks of Youth camp (7-14), camping after July 4th, nurses are available 24 hours a day and lifeguard will be on duty. A camp director is provided to formulate recreation and educational programs. A counselor is provided for each eight children for guidance and companionship. A baseball diamond as well as facilities for tennis, volleyball, darts, shuffleboard, badminton, soccer, archery, horseshoe, ping pong, boating and canoeing. Camping after July 4th.
